Confession: more often than not, I find myself in the camp whose chorus is constantly, “Where does the time go?!”
Another confession: I’m working on my relationship with time. And that’s a story for, well, another time.
Here’s a new piece. It’s one that can be read from beginning to end and/or end to beginning.
I invite you to listen to me read it aloud below to soak in the cadence of time.
time
goes
tick tick tick
in my chest
in my throat.
the woz-time continuum,
broken.
can it heal?
Is there enough?
please don’t kill it.
tick tick tick
move!
faster.
look back? miss it.
look forward? miss it.
don’t stop.
don’t stare.
move it. or miss it.
tick tick tick
catch my breath.
hold it,
don’t lose it.
hold it tighter.
blue,
i think that’s called
depression.
tick tick tick
breathe in. breathe out.
catch. release.
the alarm goes off. it actually goes on.
don’t look back. don’t look forward.
don’t forget to breathe.
tick tick tick
goes
time.

I love the flow of the forwards and backwards and reading it both ways. Just like time.
YES the alarm goes ON. go Woz
